Translation and Translation Didactics in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

The dynamic development of artificial intelligence (AI) presents linguists with new challenges, which we want to discuss in the translation section. Machine translation systems are becoming more and more efficient, and more and more language services are being aided by AI or automated. However, linguists remain indispensable not only as process coordinators and proofreaders of machine output. Their work is also indispensable in the area of language mediation, as well as in language services requiring particular creativity. This is particularly true in areas such as literary translation, marketing or translation for the arts.

Within the translation section, we will have the opportunity to explore relevant contemporary translation issues such as:

• New translation technologies and tools,
• New types of translation and language services on the translation market,
• New theoretical models of translation studies,
• Translation ethics and translation quality in the age of machine translation,
• Translator education and the new challenges of translation didactics.
